Real-time insight into wood: moisture and temperature in CLT

Smarter, more sustainable, better

Sensors in CLT: measures moisture remotely

Building with wood offers tremendous advantages and then certainly Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT).CLT is an extremely strong and durable material, which has a higher load-bearing capacity than traditional wooden beams. CLT is lighter than concrete and steel, resulting in shorter construction times and reduced transportation costs.

Another important advantage of CLT is its environmental friendliness. The material is manufactured from sustainably managed forests and helps reduce CO2 emissions, as wood absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere while growing.

In addition, CLT can be recycled or reused at the end of its useful life, making it a circular building solution. CLT combines structural strength with environmental sustainability, making it an attractive choice for building projects today.

In addition to its many advantages, building in CLT also comes with some risks. One of the main concerns when using CLT is its sensitivity to moisture. When CLT is exposed to damp conditions, such as leaks or inadequate ventilation, the material can expand, shrink or even deform. This can lead to structural damage and reduced building performance.

It is therefore essential to measure in real time during construction and management and intervene where necessary!

the Innovative wood sensor

Moisture, humidity
and temperature

Our sensors measure moisture and temperature of the wood and humidity in the room, such as a cavity. This allows us to detect moisture problems in real time.

Waterproof

The Inscio Sensors are waterproof and have a battery that will last up to 15 years through smart use.

Safe

Our sensors have CE certification, the technology is proven, and the software is SOC 2 certified.

Inscio sensors follow the latest laws and regulations, so we are already ready for Firmware over the Air.

Connectivity we do with KPN; robust and very secure.

Wireless

The sensors are specifically designed for use in the roof and disappear under the roof covering.

The sensor sends data to KPN's LoRaWan, which provide secure data processing. All wirelessly, without cables and without internet on site.

INNOVATIVE Wood sensor & software

Inscio provides a software suite, completely web-based so can be used anywhere, to look at the condition of the roof in real time. Does that mean someone always has to log in to look at the problems? No! We have smart signaling based on algorithms, automatically Inscio users are informed about possible anomalies and risks.

Property owners, as well as contractors and manufacturers, naturally do not want problems with moisture and damage during the warranty period. Yet differences in temperature and humidity can lead to surprises after only a few years. Inscio ensures that you can intervene exactly in time, neither too early nor too late, through virtually real-time sensor data and signaling on deviations and problems

Property owners perform condition inspections to determine the condition of maintenance-sensitive elements. This inspection process is time-consuming, labor-intensive and only marginally objective.

Inscio sensors provide objective readings, i.e. an actual picture, of wood at a distance. There is no, or much less, need to inspect roofs and therefore delivers a huge reduction in movements and thus emissions.

We can tell from the data whether moisture is accumulating in the wood, but also what the temperature is . Based on that data, we alert our customers to risks before damage occurs. We enable our customers to intervene before things go wrong.
